SOS International
Youth Leadership Summit
.
........ In preparation
for the Global Youth leadership Summit, Sathira-Dhammasathan,
together with the Thai Government and other partners, will
hold an SOS International Youth Leadership Summit from June
5-14, 2006, at the center in Bangkok, Thailand. In recognition
that the Summit is held during the period of the 60-year Anniversary
Celebrations of His Majesty, King Bhumibol's,
........ Accession to The Throne,
which Sathira-Dhammasathan has paid (*take out -' the') tribute
to through "The living Monument of 60 years and 60 Million
Good Acts" Project, His Majesty's speech will be the
leading concept, introduced in the Summit. The Summit intends
to utilize His majesty's speech as a spiritual inspiration
to create "The Walking Monument" of volunteers,
who will follow His majesty's footsteps in serving the world.
Another role model to be studied and learned from is Her Royal
Highness The Princess Mother, who has brought HM the King
up to be a King who has willingly, selflessly and compassionately
served the country, from his youth to the present.
........The year 2006 not only
celebrates the 60-year Anniversary of His Majesty The King's
Accession to the Throne, but also it celebrates the Hundredth
Anniversary of the Birth of the Venerable Buddhadasa Bhikkhu,
who has been honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific,
and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as one of the world's great
personalities. One of His Venerable's teachings reflects the
principles used in the Summit, which are
"Youth morality is the basis
for world peace" and that "world peace can only
happen when
1. Everybody understands the core of their own religion
2. Everybody understands (*take out - 'other') religions other
than their own
3. We move away from a world of materialism
Combining the teaching and the experiences
of these great persons, will be a spiritual inspiration
and a way of life that the young leaders can follow, so
that they too can be a factor in creating world peace.
Objectives
1. To generate an Operational Plan and a Meeting Agenda,
emphasizing the Millennium Development Goals, which will
be presented at the Global Youth Leadership Summit.
2. To enhance the depth of spiritual dimension in the mind
of the international youth leaders, especially on the creating
and strengthening of volunteering philosophy and the way
of living a life without suffering but with mutual happiness.
3. To reinforce the determination of the International Youth
Leader Teams.
4. To incorporate the context of His Majesty's speeches
and the Vulnerable Buddhadasa Bhikkhu's dhamma legacy into
